The Philadelphia Fire Department, in cooperation with Equipment Simulations LLC, is participating in a research grant from the National Institute of Environmental Sciences (NIEHS) to train/evaluate first responder compliance with Operating Procedures (OP's), particularly involving Command during HazMat and Anti-Terrorism incidents, as well as with standards such as NFPA 1026, 1500, 1521, and 1561, among others.
From February through May, the Department will conduct a series of two-day sessions in which company officers and battalion chiefs take command on a range of scenarios. The scenarios have been designed to cover virtually all of Philadelphia's HazMat OP's, as well as Incident Command and Safety Officer roles.
A limited number of slots are available for those interested in observing the exercises. Please contact us to find the best dates for you. |
